Popular video streaming service VUDU has announced support for Google’s Chromecast device in a recent blog post on the VUDU site. An exact date was not announced other than “soon” and it specifically mentions support for iOS, Android, and your PC/Mac via the Google Chrome browser.
For those of you not familiar with the Chromecast, what this means is that VUDU subscribers will be able to play back their video library directly to their big screen TV, without needing to directly connect a Roku, game console, computer or blu-ray player. Well, as long as they have the $35 Chromecast that is.
Basically you’d use your phone or computer to pick a movie or TV show from VUDU’s library, stream it to the Chromecast that is plugged into one of your TV’s HDMI ports, and then sit back and enjoy your show.
This announcement is on the heels of Google opening up the Chromecast device to all software developers. VUDU will be joining other services such as Netflix and Plex that already support Chromecast. (Don’t hold your breath for iTunes)Follow bernardfok
